Online assessment and psychometric testing

We have looked at and tested several products produced for the fleet market; Some show real promise, but almost all will come out with a high risk rating for young and high mileage drivers. It almost seems not worthwhile conducting psychometric tests on anyone under 23 as they invariably point to further training requirements.

Our own chosen system is comparable in most aspects and additionally can be calibrated to van drivers as well as car drivers.

We would strongly recommend using online assessments as a first line filter, to perhaps find the drivers with the highest risk and poorest attitudes. Companies should also employ the services of fleet registered driver trainers who can not only spot weaknesses in a drivers style and attitudes, but through solid coaching techniques can help drivers develop better skills and increased awareness of the driving task.
